Wahington Dollar

In addition to the Sacagawea Golden Dollar, the United States is honoring our Nation’s presidents by issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order that they served, beginning with Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison in 2007.

Each will have a reverse design featuring the Statue of Liberty. These coins will feature larger, more dramatic artwork, as well as edge inscriptions of the year of minting or issuance, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust and the mint mark.

Thanks to the generosity of the same fellow co-worker who gave me a South Dakota quarter, I now possess a shiny new Washington Golden Dollar.

I have to say that previously I could not understand why anyone would want to use a dollar coin over a dollar bill. But I must say that the Pound coin here is quite a delight and I shouldn't be ashamed now to have a coin purse full of dollar coins.
