Unior Lee

Today, I witnessed a miracle. My 85 year old Uncle Bill got baptized this evening. I also found out the mystery to his first name. Everyone in the family always called him "Bill". But his given name is Unior Lee Shores.

My uncle is from the south — Florida to be exact. Whenever I saw his name in print, I always thought that it was a misprint and was suppose to be Union Lee. Turns out that he has a twin brother. Yep, you guessed it — Junior. And to make the set complete, he was given the name Unior.
Twins: Junior & Unior.

Can't say as I blame him for going by "Bill" his whole life. Can you imagine going through school introducing yourself to the teacher and her feeling sorry for you the whole school year — thinking that you might have a hairlip and all because she thought that you couldn't pronounce "Junior" correctly.

I always admired my Uncle Bill because he loves fast cars. He has two muscle cars in his backyard — a 1969 orange GTO Judge and a 1970 green GTO Judge. It wasn't that long ago that he used to take them out "to burn the carbon" off of the cylinders. He's got the tickets to prove it.
