Uncle Charles


Charles W. Arnett, age 88, died peacefully at home March 12, 2008. Viewing at Bunker Mortuary, 33 N Centennial Way, Mesa, is Friday, March 21 6-8 pm. Funeral services at Gilbert Stapley Stake Center, 1100 N Cooper at 10 am, 9 am viewing, Saturday 22. Burial at VA cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, Monday, March 24, 10:00 am. Charles was born on a farm near Duncan, Arizona, on September 5, 1919, to Tom and Annie Gale Arnett. A man of unblemished character, he quietly and willingly served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wherever and whenever called, including missionary, clerk, bishop, temple worker and sealer. Charles was a B-24 bomber pilot in WWII, was recalled during the Korean conflict, served a year in Vietnam, and retired as a Lt Col. Late in life he founded the Arnett Foundation and the Arnett Institute, non-profit organizations for historical research. Happily married 62 years, Arnett is survived by his wife, Anna Laurene Liljenquist, and their seven children; Marolyn & Milan Haws, Wayne & Sue Sherwood Arnett, Kathleen & Jerry Ethington, Paul Arnett, David Arnett, Karen Karlene & Jasen Blair, and Mark & Camille Judy Arnett.
