The rest of the story…
I partially described our hotel room. It was on the top floor at the end of a long hallway. It had a Wet Paint. Do not touch sign on the door. We were very tired when we got there. We did notice that the room was very, very tiny—about 2' on either side of the double sized bed.
The ceiling had a big crack above the bed. Each of the drawers on the armoire were broken—none of them had any rails. The mattress had a big depression in the center. No matter had hard you would try to stay on your side, you would roll towards the center. That was the good part.
When I got up in the morning I noticed what appeared to be rat droppings on the sheets. When cs rolled over to look, she noticed 4 "distinct" stains on the sheets also. Penee had arrived by then and we showed her.
We were headed down to the office, when the cleaning lady asked if something was wrong. We showed her and she was very upset and tried dialing the manager.
They told us that they would move us immediately as soon as another room was available.
We told them that we were going to go do some sight-seeing and would be back later.
When we returned, they told us that the "droppings" were caulking from the door—right, uh huh. We got the key cards to the new room. cs and Penee went to the new room, while I gathered up my stuff.
When I got to the new room, cs was on the phone to the front desk. I looked over by the window and there was a big hole in the wall. The air conditioning unit had been removed and the cover was on the floor.
We then got moved to the third room. This one is much larger, has a queen-sized bed and no evidence of any "caulking".
My only regret is that we didn't take any pictures…but Penee saw it all and she can be our witness.

We must have got your "third-try room" right off. Hence my recommendation. A thousand apologies. Also, a thousand giggles. Also, I hope this doesn't affect your confidence in my recommendation to go the the Cloisters. There is no caulking there, I promise.
